Sandy Dudgeon is the managing director of the holding company, having previously been chairman of Martin Currie Private Clients. A chartered accountant Sandy joined Adam & Company as its first company secretary in 1983 and became deputy managing director in 1991. He joined Martin Currie in 1994 with responsibility for all its UK mutual funds. He was a director of Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust plc from 1998 to 2006, and Man Alternative Investments Limited from 2001 to 2004. He is currently an adviser to Wates Family Holdings. Mark Baring is a director of THL. His first job was with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co in New York in 1980. In 1985 he joined Barings and worked in their corporate finance business, including a secondment to Singapore between 1987 and 1992. In 1994 he transferred to the private client asset management business, where he had responsibility for a selection of clients, including becoming Manager of Tribune Investment Trust plc in 1999. He joined Thornhill in 2002 and is a trustee of The Baring Foundation. Des Brennan joined Thornhill as a director in October 2006. He spent 11 years at Insight Investment where he was a Director, UK Equities responsible for the flagship £700m Managed Pooled UK Equity Fund and a number of external institutional clients. He began his career as an investment analyst at Sun Life of Canada before joining ICI Investment Management as a fund manager within the in-house investment team. He holds a degree in Banking & International Finance from the City University Business School. Robert Elkington is a director of THL. He joined Gerrard & National in 1971, becoming a director in 1978. Prior to the takeover of Gerrard Group plc by Old Mutual plc, he was group finance and risk director, and chairman of Gerrard & King, the specialist banking operation. Following Old Mutual's takeover of Gerrard, he was a director of Old Mutual Financial Services (UK) plc until his retirement in April 2001. Michael Fitzhugh a director of Thornhill Investment Management since 1994, has been managing private client portfolios for fifteen years and joined Thornhill from the Lugano based Swiss bank, BSI. Tim Freeman is Thornhill’s Director of Legal and Compliance and Company Secretary of all the group companies. He qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Thornhill in March 2006 from the Financial Services Regulatory group of the international law firm, Simmons & Simmons. Alison Gibb joined Thornhill as a Fund Manager in October 2007. She previously spent 10 years at HSBC where she was a Senior Fund Manager responsible for global fixed income and cash plus portfolios for institutional clients. Alison has an MA Hons degree in Management and International Relations from St Andrews University and is an Associate member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals. Gillian Lakin joined Thornhill as a director in June 2004 and became Chief Investment Officer in July 2006. She was previously Head of Research at Société Générale Asset Management and a UK Equity Fund Manager with responsibility for the flagship UK Equity 350 fund. She began her career at PPM, the investment management arm of the Prudential Corporation where she trained as an analyst and became Head of the Smaller Companies team managing funds of £1billion. She has an MSc in Finance from the London Business School. Eleanor Lawther is a director, she joined Thornhill in May 2005 having spent ten years at Henderson Global Investors, where she trained as an equity analyst before managing UK equity portfolios for pension fund clients. Eleanor is a member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals. Greg McMaster is the Investment Team’s Dealer. He has just migrated to Thornhill from New Zealand we he previously worked at Forsyth Barr. Greg has 5 years experience dealing in world markets, but in particular Australasian equities. In New Zealand, Greg was an Associate Member of the New Zealand Stock Exchange and has also worked for Credit Suisse First Boston and First NZ Capital. Andrew Mulvey joined Thornhill in 1986 after working in a law firm for four years and became a Thornhill director in 1995. He is the group's information technology director. Fred Packard is a director of the holding company. He was a partner of Garantia, a leading merchant bank in Brazil, from 1974 until its sale to the Credit Suisse group in 1998. In 1987, he co-founded F & C Emerging Markets Limited and acted as its executive chairman from 1993 until its sale to Foreign & Colonial in November 1996. He was a director of Gerrard Group plc from 1997 until its sale to Old Mutual plc in 2000. He is also chairman of the Rank Foundation, a non-executive director of Sun Interbrew and a member of the Advisory Board of Spencer Stuart. Alistair Reid is Thornhill's Chief Operating Officer. He is a chartered accountant with over 20 years experience in financial services. He has previously worked for Morgan Grenfell as Director of Operations, and at Barclays, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan as Managing Director responsible for the securities businesses servicing fund management companies and their clients. He has served on Bank of England, SWIFT, Electronic Trade Confirmation and Fund Management Association committees. Nicholas Ryder joined Thornhill in 2001, having been a director of Gerrard & King and prior to that a director of Cater Allen Holdings plc. He is responsible for marketing Thornhill's investment management services and general client relationships. He is a director of Weatherbys Bank Limited. Nathan Sweeney joined Thornhill as a Fund Manager in June of 2007. He previously worked at AIB Investment Managers in Dublin for seven years. Nathan was the Senior Fund Analyst responsible for the top performing AIB Select Multimanager Fund since launch, managing assets in excess of €700m. Nathan holds a Bsc from NUI Galway, he is currently continuing with his studies.
